The Laboratory of Cardiology was founded in 2006. The laboratory’s scientific research is focused on studying the metabolic syndrome risk factors which are  associated with an increased rate of cardiovascular diseases and complications (sudden death, fatal or nonfatal myocardial infarction and stroke). During these years The Laboratory of Cardiology has conducted two international projects : “Lipid and glucose metabolism in patients with insulin resistance”,  within the cooperation Program between Academy of ScienceS of Moldova and Russian Fundamental Research Fund (2007), and “The Pathophysiological mechanisms of insulin resistance and coronary flow disorders in patients with metabolic syndrome” within the joint research program between the Academy of Sciences of Moldova  and the Republican Fund of Fundamental Research of the Republic of Belarus (2009). Currently, the institutional project:  “The Development of a concept of primary and secondary prevention of metabolic syndrome based on the evaluation of etiopathogenic mechanisms, clinical and the action of sympatholytic remedies” (2014), is carried out.
